TV boys advance to State in 6 events, Kassidy Reicks qualifies

 

NASHUA - Competing at the Class 1A State Qualifier Meet on May 10, the Turkey Valley boys’ track team advanced to the State Meet in six events and placed third overall with 96 points. TV’s Kassidy Reicks qualified for State in the girls’ meet by placing fifth in the discus.

The Trojan boys’ team qualified for State in the following events: 1600 (Jordon Snyder, first at qualifier, 4:47.54); 110 hurdles (Kyle Langreck, fourth, 15.85); discus (Luke Anderson, second, 139-1); 4x400 (Evan Drilling, Elliott Dietzenbach, Langreck, Cale Reicks, third, 3:38.02); 4x800 (Eli Nymeyer, Snyder, Zach Gillen, Dietzenbach, first, 8:35.57); distance medley (Evan Drilling, Mason Goerend, Cale Reicks, Dietzenbach, second, 3:47.02).

In the girls’ meet, Kassidy Reicks posted the highest placing as she finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 108 feet, 1 inch. The 4x800 team of Jaycie Byrne, Emily Busta, Sayler Drilling and Katlyn Baumler placed sixth in 11:28.85.

“I am super excited for Kassidy to cap her senior year off at State,” TV Girls’ Coach Brian Schmitt said. “She has worked extremely hard over the last two years to learn a new event. 

“She started last year throwing 68 feet and now threw 108 feet 1 inch to make it to State. It is crazy to think of the progress she has made over such a short span. She is one of those kids you will remember for a long time due to her putting in the extra hours away from practice. I would like to see her throw close or better than her personal best (110 feet, 1 inch) and really enjoy her experience at State,” Schmitt said.
