Turkey Valley softball team routs West Central, splits with NFV, edges Crestwood

JACKSON JCT - The Turkey Valley softball team racked up 37 total runs during a doubleheader sweep of West Central at home on June 20. The Trojans won game one, 13-1, in four innings and crushed the Blue Devils, 24-4, in three innings in game two.
Playing North Fayette Valley in a road doubleheader on June 22, the Trojans split two games. Turkey Valley rallied to win game one, 6-3. NFV edged the Trojans, 8-6, in game two.
Competing against Crestwood at home on June 23, the Trojans withstood a late rally by the Cadets to win, 4-3.
Turkey Valley (13-6) will host West Central (5-16) in the first round of the Class 1A Region 7 Tournament on July 1 at 7 p.m. The winner will play Don Bosco (14-5) on July 6 at 7 p.m. at Don Bosco.
The region semifinal will be on July 8 at North Linn at 7 p.m. The region final will be on July 11 at a site to be determined.

In game one, the Trojans held a slim 2-1 lead after two innings before tallying six runs in the third and five in the fourth en route to a 13-1 win in four innings.
Turkey Valley posted 11 hits, including five extra base hits. Aubrey Hoffert had three hits, including one double, two runs and one RBI. Maici Weber had one double, one home run, two runs and two RBIs.
Kara Reicks tallied two hits, including one triple, one run, two stolen bases and three RBIs. Clare Courtney had two hits, including one double, two runs and three RBIs.
Olivia Drilling had one single, one run and two RBIs. Olivia Snyder had one single and two runs. Brianna Busta had two runs. Josie Weber had one stolen base.
Josie Weber pitched a gem in the circle to notch the win. She went four innings, allowed only one hit, one earned run and struck out 10 batters.

In game two, the Trojans took control early and sailed to a 24-4 rout in three innings.
Turkey Valley posted 13 runs in the first inning and added 11 more in the second.
The Trojans racked up 12 hits and had seven stolen bases in game two.
Reicks had one single, one double, four runs, one stolen base and two RBIs. Josie Weber tallied two hits, including one triple, four runs, two stolen bases and two RBIs. Hoffert had one single, three runs, one stolen base and one RBI.
Maici Weber had one single, one stolen base and one run. Drilling had one single and three runs. Courtney tallied one single, two runs and two RBIs. Busta had two singles, two runs and one RBI.
Jacqlyn Schmitt had one single and one RBI. Alison Leibold had one single, one run and two RBIs. Halle Weber had two runs and one stolen base. Snyder and Mariah Throndson each scored one run. Throndson had one stolen base.
Sierra Morris earned the win. She pitched three innings, allowed two hits, four runs (three earned), three walks, hit one batter and struck out one.

In game one, the Tigerhawks led 3-1 early before the Trojans tallied two runs each in the sixth and seventh innings to win, 6-3.

In game two, North Fayette Valley broke a five-all tie game with three runs in the fifth inning to win, 8-6.
The Tigerhawks led 5-0 after one inning before the Trojans tied the game with four runs in the fourth and one in the fifth.
Reicks posted one single. Hoffert had one single and two runs. Maici Weber had three hits, including one double and one run.
Snyder had one hit and one run. Courtney had one single and two RBIs. Dilling had three hits, one run and two RBIs. Busta had one double and one run. Halle Weber had one hit and two RBIs.
Josie Weber was the losing pitcher. She tossed five and two-thirds innings, allowed seven hits, three runs (no earned runs), walked one and hit one batter. Halle Weber pitched one-third of an inning, allowed three hits, five runs (two earned) and one walk.

The Trojans scored three runs in the sixth to take a 4-1 lead and held off a late Crestwood rally to win, 4-3.
Turkey Valley scored one run in the first and Crestwood tallied one run in the third.
The Cadets posted two runs in the seventh to cut the lead to one before the Trojans got the third out to escape with the victory.
