Turkey Valley girls downed by MFL, crush Vikings, win one at CC Tourney

 

JACKSON JUNCTION - Playing at the Central City Tournament on June 9, the Turkey Valley softball team split two contests. The Trojans beat Iowa Valley, 12-4; and lost to Central City, 1-13, in five innings.
The Trojans gave MFL-Mar-Mac a good battle at home on June 11 before losing both games, 8-11 and 1-2.
Facing Decorah at home on June 12, the Trojans ripped the Vikings, 18-7, in six innings.
Playing at Lansing Kee on June 13, the Trojans struggled at the plate as they lost both games of a twinbill, 0-12 and 0-15.
Competing at the New Hampton Tournament on June 16, the Trojans lost to New Hampton (3-9) in game one; fell to Nashua-Plainfield (8-10) in game two; and they lost to Denver (2-14) in the third game.
 
TV 12, Iowa Valley 4
In game one of the Central City Tournament, the Trojans raced to a 7-1 lead after two innings and sailed to a 12-4 win.
“We got a strong pitching performance by Jaedyn Winter,” TV Coach Junior Hackman said. “We had solid hitting, which was led by Emily Busta hitting a home run and Jordan Lukes going four-for-four.”
Emily Busta finished with one home run, one double, three runs and five runs batted in. Jordan Lukes rapped four hits, including one double, and had four RBI.
Jaedyn Winter had three hits, scored three runs and had one stolen base. Jalyssa Blazek tallied two runs, one RBI and had one stolen base. Kassidy Reicks posted two runs and two stolen bases. Josie Weber and Kara Reicks each had one hit and one run. Ashton Kout had one stolen base.
Winter was the winning pitcher. She went seven innings, allowed seven hits, four earned runs, five walks and struck out four.

Central City 13, TV 1
In game two of the tourney, Central City took an early 8-0 lead after three innings on its way to a 13-1 win in five innings.
“We ran into a solid Central City team in game two,” Hackman said. “They came out ready to play and we were flat. I think the long bus ride caught up to us. We got to see two teams not from our area. I wish we would have played better in the second game, but it was a good trip overall.”
TV finished with only two hits. Emily Busta and Jordan Lukes each had one single. Kassidy Reicks scored one run.
Josie Weber was the losing pitcher. She tossed four innings, allowed four hits, nine runs (five earned), five walks and struck out one.

MFL 11, TV 8
In game one, Turkey Valley led 5-4 after three innings before MFL-MM rallied for five runs in the fourth and held on for the 11-8 win.
Turkey Valley cut MFL-MM’s lead to 9-8 with three runs in the fourth, but the Bulldogs added two insurance runs in the sixth.
“This one was a slugfest for the first four innings,” TV Coach Junior Hackman said. “They switched pitchers and we just hit balls hard right at their players. We were not able to score the final three innings.”
Emily Busta tallied two hits, including one home run, two runs and two runs batted in for TV. Aleah Hackman had two hits, one run and three RBI. Jaedyn Winter had one hit and one RBI.
Kim Fischer scored one run. Kassidy Reicks and Jordan Lukes each had one hit and two runs. Shayla Kuennen had one hit.
Kim Fischer was the losing pitcher. She tossed five innings, allowed 10 hits, 11 runs (10 earned), two walks and struck out one. Josie Weber went two innings, allowed one hit, two walks and struck out three.

In game two, MFL-MM grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second inning and held off the Trojans to notch the 2-1 win.
Turkey Valley scored one run in the bottom of the sixth.
“Game two was a good pitcher’s battle with solid fielding from both squads. Even though we out-hit them eight to five, we came out short in the run column. We had two runners get tagged out at home plate in the bottom of the seventh trying to tie the game.”
Jaedyn Winter had two hits. Kassidy Reicks tallied one hit and one run. Kim Fischer, Jordan Lukes and Ashton Kout each had one hit. Kelsey Kurtenbach had one hit and one RBI. Jalyssa Blazek had one hit and two stolen bases.
Jaedyn Winter was the losing pitcher. She went seven innings, allowed five hits, two earned runs, four walks and struck out five.

TV 18, Decorah 7
Scoring runs was no problem at all for Turkey Valley on June 12 at home against Decorah as the Trojans ripped the Vikings, 18-7, in six innings.
“It was a big night hitting for us,” Hackman said. “It was great to see everybody hitting the ball hard. We had a few line drive outs that might have been hit harder than any of the four home runs that we hit. Hopefully this is just the beginning of us hitting like I think we are capable of for the rest of the season.”
Decorah took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first before Turkey Valley came back with two runs in the bottom of the first on solo home runs by Emily Busta and Kassidy Reicks. The Trojans added four runs in the second, which included a two-run double by Jordan Lukes, to take a 6-1 lead.
The Vikes cut the lead to 6-4 in the top of the third before the Trojans answered with four runs in the third to go ahead 10-4. Turkey Valley led 13-5 after three innings before plating five runs in the bottom of the sixth to clinch the win.
Kassidy Reicks finished with three hits, including two home runs, had three runs and three RBI. Emily Busta had one double, one home run, two runs and four RBI. Jordan Lukes had one double and two RBI.
Jaedyn Winter had two hits, including one double, two runs and two RBI. Aleah Hackman had two hits, one run and two RBI. Shayla Kuennen tallied three hits, including one home run, four runs and two RBI. 
Josie Weber had two hits, including one double, and three runs. Kim Fischer scored one run. Ashton Kout had one run and one RBI. Nicole Panos scored one run.
Fischer was the winning pitcher. She went three innings, allowed four hits, four earned runs, three walks and struck out two. Winter tossed three innings, allowed two hits, three earned runs, five walks and struck out two.

In game one, Lansing Kee snagged a 3-0 lead after one inning on its way to a 12-0 win in four innings.
Kee scored three runs in the first, one in the second, three in the third and added five in the fourth.
Emily Busta and Jordan Lukes each had one single for Turkey Valley to account for the Trojans’ only two hits.
Kim Fischer was the losing pitcher. She went three and one-third innings, allowed seven hits, nine runs (eight earned) and walked two. Emily Busta pitched one-third of an inning, allowed four hits, three earned runs and walked one.

In game two, the Kee Hawks raced to a 6-0 lead after one inning and soared to a 15-0 win in four innings.
The Trojans tallied only two hits. Emily Busta and Shayla Kuennen each had one single.
Jaedyn Winter took the loss. She pitched one inning, allowed six hits, 11 runs (eight earned) and walked six. Emily Busta tossed two and one-third innings, allowed three hits, four earned runs and walked three.

N.H. Tourney
Turkey Valley dropped three games at the New Hampton Tournament on June 16 as it lost to New Hampton (3-9), Nashua-Plainfield (8-10) and Denver (2-14).
“We were short-handed with three regulars having family commitments to attend to,” Hackman said. “The heat really took its toll on all of our players. Hopefully, we can bounce back this week.”

In game one, New Hampton grabbed an early 6-2 lead on its way to a 9-3 win over the Trojans.
Jaedyn Winter had two hits, including one double, and one run. Kassidy Reicks posted one hit and two RBI. Josie Weber and Sophia Adams each scored one run. Kim Fischer, Jalyssa Blazek and Kara Reicks each had one hit.
Winter was the losing pitcher. She went seven innings, allowed 12 hits, nine runs (four earned), walked four and struck out five.

In game two, the Trojans took a 7-1 lead after one inning, but they couldn’t hold on as Nashua-Plainfield rallied for a 10-8 win.
Aleah Hackman tallied two hits, one run and two RBI. Jalyssa Blazek had one hit, one run and two RBI. Jaedyn Winter, Kassidy Reicks and Jordan Lukes each had one hit and one run.
Kara Reicks, Reese Manderfield and Josie Weber each scored one run. Kim Fischer had one run and one RBI. 
Ashton Kout was the losing pitcher. She tossed two innings in relief, allowed six hits, five earned runs and struck out two. Kim Fischer pitched three innings, allowed six hits, five runs (three earned) and struck out three.

Denver 14, TV 2
In game three, Denver took a 6-0 lead in the first inning and beat TV, 14-2, in four innings.
Reese Manderfield and Jordan Lukes each had one hit and one RBI. Jalyssa Blazek tallied one hit and one run. Makayla Farrell scored one run.
