Trojan girls down Decorah

JACKSON JUNCTION - The Turkey Valley girls’ basketball team opened its season on Nov. 27 with a 50-41 win over Decorah at home.
“It was a great way to start the year,” TV Co-Coach Dan Stepan said. “The girls played hard and we saw lots of good things. We are a different team from last year so we will have to find different ways to win.”
Decorah held a 13-9 lead after one period before Turkey Valley went on a 13-8 run in the second period to take a 22-21 halftime lead. The Trojans went on a 15-9 run in the third period to take a 37-30 lead going into the fourth.
Emily Busta led the Trojans with 17 points, including two three-pointers. Katlyn Baumler had 12 points. Elli Winter tallied seven points. Jaycie Bryne had five points. Breanna Busta had six points, including one three-pointer. Kassidy Reicks had three points.
