No. 9 Turkey Valley football team routs Springville Orioles, 54-7

JACKSON JUNCTION - Turkey Valley quarterback Ethan Leibold racked up 221 yards passing and four touchdowns while the Trojans’ defense held Springville in check as Eight-Man No. 9 Turkey Valley crushed the Orioles, 54-7, on Sept. 14.
The Trojans (4-0) will travel to Central City (4-0) on Friday, Sept. 21 with the game time scheduled for 7 p.m.
TV Head Coach Mark Scott said the Trojans made the proper adjustments to Springville’s game plan.
“Springville’s defensive scheme created issues for our offense early in the game,” Scott said. “As the game proceeded, the players executed what we needed to execute to take what Springville’s defense was giving us.
“Carter Reicks had a good game from his nose guard position. Defensively, we bent but did not break by allowing Springville  to get into the end zone only once late in the fourth quarter. Ethan Leibold did a great job of throwing the ball  and handling the punting duties. He allowed zero return yards,” Scott said.
The Trojans took an 8-0 lead in the first quarter on an eight-yard touchdown pass from Leibold to Billy Swestka. Leibold converted the two-point pass to Dylan Elsbernd.
Turkey Valley added two scores in the second quarter. Elsbernd scored on a three-yard run, and Leibold ran the ball in for two points. Keegan Balk grabbed a 32-yard touchdown pass from Leibold, who completed the two-point pass to Elsbernd.
The Trojans tacked on three scores in the third to build a commanding 46-0 lead. Swestka caught touchdown passes of 46 yards and six yards from Leibold, and Leibold ran the ball in from one yard out. Leibold raced in for two points after the second score, and he completed the two-point pass to Seth Huinker after the third score.
In the fourth, Marcus Herold scored on a 31-yard run for TV’s final touchdown. Elliott Dietzenbach ran the ball in for two points.
