No. 2 Crestwood girl cagers hammer Clayton Ridge, 77-13

GUTTENBERG - The Class 3A No. 2 Crestwood varsity girls’ basketball team opened the season on a very strong note with a convincing 77-13 win over Clayton Ridge on Nov. 20.
The Cadets built a 14-4 lead after one period and went on a 32-4 run in the second quarter to take a 46-8 halftime lead. Crestwood pushed its lead to 64-13 after three periods before going on a 13-0 run in the final period.
Eight Cadets scored at least two points. Shannon Pisney led the charge as she tallied 20 points, had six rebounds, six assists, four steals and one block. Ellie Friesen poured in 17 points, including four three-pointers, had three rebounds, six assists and five steals.
Sharon Goodman had 15 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. Brynn Bodermann had six points, two rebounds, five assists and two steals. Annie Mast tallied six points and three rebounds.
Emily Friesen had six points, including two three-pointers, four assists, three rebounds and one steal. Kaylee Thomas had five points, including one three-pointer. Samantha Balk had two points. Taylor Shelton had three assists. Laken Lienhard tallied two rebounds, one assist and one steal.
The Cadets connected on 31 of 53 total field goals, including seven of 14 from three-point range, made eight of 11 free throws, tallied 24 rebounds, had 28 assists, 15 steals and two blocks.
Crestwood will play at South Winn on Thursday, Nov. 30.
