No. 14 Cadet wrestlers pin Huskies, Comets; take 3rd at WSR Tournament

CRESCO - The Class 2A No. 14 Crestwood wrestling team had no trouble against Charles City and Oelwein on Friday at home as the Cadets crushed Charles City, 58-12; and they pinned Oelwein, 71-12.
During the dual against Oelwein, Chris Guest won by technical fall over Joey Barron to notch his 100th career win.
Crestwood performed well at the Waverly-SR Rick Caldwell Invitational on Saturday as the Cadets finished third overall with 173.5 points and crowned two champions: Kaden Anderlik (120) and Colter Bye (160).
Cadet Head Coach Keith Slifka said he was pleased with how the team competed Friday and Saturday.
“Our kids wrestled well against Charles City and Oelwein Friday,” Slifka said. “With the two wins, we finished 5-1 and second place in the conference during the regular season. It was nice to see Chris Guest get his 100th career win. I’m really pleased with the way Chris is wrestling right now.
“The Waverly Tournament on Saturday was a tough one that included Fort Dodge, which is the No. 1 team in Class 3A. We had three kids in the finals and two champions. Overall, we wrestled well as a team,” Slifka said.
The Cadets will compete at the NEIC Tournament in Waverly on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. The Class 2A Sectional Tourney will be Feb. 3 at Luther at noon.
