CRESCO - Ken Fencl of Protivin is not the type of person who toots his own horn but he certainly has every right to.
On May 22 at the Cresco Country Club, Fencl chalked up not only his sixth lifetime hole-in-one but his second ace of 2022. His first one of the year came in Arizona in April.
Golfing with Ken Panos in May at the Cresco course, Fencl nailed his ace on hole three from the blue tees, which was 200 yards, using a five-iron.
“The wind was at my back that day,” Fencl said with a huge smile. “I’m not a real big hitter.
“The ball bounced a couple times and then rolled in the hole but I didn’t see it (go in). My playing partner, Ken Panos, told me, ‘I’m pretty sure that went in the hole.’ I saw the ball rolling toward the flag but I didn’t see it drop in from where I was standing on the tee box. I was definitely excited (to learn it went in),” Fencl said.
His hole-in-one on May 22 was his third ace at the Cresco Country Club in his golfing career.
“I’ve also had one in LaCrosse (Wis.), one at Jackson Heights in Jackson Junction and one in Arizona,” he noted. “The one I had in May was probably a better shot than the other ones because it went straight at the hole and was a well-struck ball.”
