Fousek nabs third consecutive State title, Kittelson finishes second
DES MOINES - Crestwood junior Carter Fousek won a 6-4 decision over Dominik Ridout of East Marshall in the championship match at 126 pounds at the Class 2A State Wrestling Tournament to capture his third straight state title on Saturday, Feb. 20. Fousek is now Cresco/Crestwood's 70th individual state champion. With Saturday's title, Fousek (33-0) becomes the third Cresco/Crestwood wrestler to win three state titles. Donald Maland (1932-34) and Tom Peckham (1960-62) also won three state championships. Next season, Fousek will aim to become the only four-time champion in school history.
Cadet freshman Anders Kittelson (32-1) lost a 2-1 decision to Cameron Phetxoumphone of Webster City in the state finals at 113 pounds to place second. Crestwood sophomore Chase Thomas (26-4) won a 12-7 decision over Dao Keokhamthong of Sioux Center to place third at 138 pounds. Crestwood senior Treyton Burnikel (27-6) won by fall in overtime against Gage Marty of Solon to finish fifth at 220 pounds. As a team, the Cadets placed fourth with 79 points.
