Eleven Cadet gridders nab All-District football honors

 CRESCO - Seven Crestwood football players were named to the Class 2A All-District 3 First Team for the 2023 season. Two Cadets nabbed Second Team honors and two more earned Honorable Mention selection.

First Team selections on offense included: Preston McCabe, junior, offensive line; Will Ludwig, junior, offensive line and Aidan Skoda, junior, running back. First Team selections on defense included: Caiden Simiele, junior, defensive line; Brock Voyna, junior, linebacker; Brayden Thompson, junior, linebacker and Austin Hoppe, senior, defensive back.

Second Team selections included: Dylan Shelton, senior, quarterback and Nolan Johnson, senior, linebacker. Honorable Mention players included: Brady Fett, sophomore, linebacker and Mason Vrba, senior, offensive line.

Skoda led the Cadets this season with 869 yards rushing and seven touchdowns on 165 carries, good for an average of 5.3 yards per carry. As a team, Crestwood tallied 1,806 yards rushing and scored 18 touchdowns.

On defense, Voyna led the team with 51 total tackles, including 28 solo stops and 4.5 tackles for loss. Simiele had 47.5 total tackles, including 27 solo stops and 10 tackles for loss. 

Thompson had 49 total tackles, including 29 solo tackles and three tackles for loss. Hoppe had 43 total tackles, including 25 solo stops. Brayden Johnson had 22 total tackles, including 11 solo stops and 4.5 tackles for loss. Fett tallied 37.5 total tackles, inlcuding 18 solo stops, 5.5 sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss

Shelton completed 56 of 109 pass attempts for 636 yards, four touchdowns and six interceptions. He also gained 421 yards rushing and scored six touchdowns. Nolan Johnson had 18 catches for 200 yards and had 14 kickoff returns for 240 yards.
