CRESCO - The Crestwood varsity football team will be looking for some payback when it travels to Waverly on Friday, Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m. to take on the Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks in a non-district contest.
Both Crestwood (0-1) and Waverly-Shell Rock (0-1) will be searching for their first win of the season. The Cadets lost their season opener to Decorah, 14-41, on Aug. 28 at home. Class 2A No. 2 Waukon downed Waverly-SR, 45-6, in the season opener for both teams.
“Waverly-SR has a great fullback and tailback combo (with McCrae Hagarty and Asa Newson),” Cadet Coach Justin Denner said. “The road doesn’t get any easier for us, but that’s OK. Rough seas make for good sailors. We need to keep getting better each week.”
During the 2020 season, Waverly-SR downed the Cadets, 49-13, in the season-opener for both teams.
