RIDGEWAY - Willard G. Brandt of Ridgeway, Iowa passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis. at the age of 88.
He laid to rest at the Ridgeway Cemetery in rural Ridgeway, on Thursday, March 16, 2023. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Willard Galen Brandt was born on Oct. 29, 1934 to Harry and Norma (Borseth) Brandt in Decorah, Iowa. He joined the United States Army and served two tours of duty in Korea. He married Sandra Amundson on Jan. 25, 1959. Willard worked all over the U.S. as a heavy equipment operator.
Survivors include Willard’s children, David Brandt, Diane Brandt, Dorie (Jeff) Pearson and Dawn Brandt; grandchildren, Jeremy Brandt, Sarah (Jake Miller) Brandt, Jacquolynn Brandt, Britanney Brandt, Tyree (Matt) Tackaberry, Tjay Truax, Cassandra (Dwight) Henry and Christian (Caroline Zimmerman) Pearson; great-grandchildren, Aidan Henry, Bowen Henry, Lucus Brandt, Gracyn Brandt, Everly Wilson, Amelia Tackaberry, Nora Tackaberry and Jake Miller Jr.; and two siblings, Donald Brandt and Donna Geinzer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandy (2021); infant daughter, Debra; and a sister, Betty Tatro.
