CRESCO - Michael R. Klennert, age 52, of Cresco, died on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Linn Haven Rehab & Healthcare in New Hampton.
Michael Ray Klennert was born June 23, 1971 in Wabasha, Minn., to Frank and Bonnie (Schultz) Klennert, joining his older sister Tammy Anne. Later his parents divorced. His mother married Wayne Johnson in 1974 and they moved to Taopi, Minn., on a farm. His family grew with a sister Karla (Johnson) Whipple and two brothers Gregory Johnson and Daniel Johnson. Mike attended school and graduated from Southland High School.
Mike loved hunting, farming and the great outdoors; trees, rivers and all living things. He would help Wayne on the farm whenever he could. Mike enjoyed welding. He worked at Featherlite following graduation from 1989-2013. He also worked at Fenco, the Steel Shop, Alum-Line and Fisk's Farm and Home. Mike would also shingle and cut wood for others.
Mike married Kris Klennert at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on April 27, 2002. They were later divorced in 2019. Kris was his right-hand for the past many years in spite of all Mike's health issues.
Mike is survived by his daughter Lindsey Klennert of Ridgeway and her mother, Arlene Dotzler of Cresco, mother Bonnie Johnson of Taopi, Minn., father Frank (Sharleen) Klennert of Theilman, Minn.,, sister Tammy (Robert) Tuma of Northfield, Minn., four step-sisters, four step-brothers, many aunts, uncles and cousins from both sides of his family.
He was preceded in death by his step-father Wayne Johnson, grandparents, Tom and Nancy Klennert, Thyra Schultz, great-grandparents Ray and Olga Irwin, Louise and Vern Landsrud, aunt Susan Pickett, cousins Lisa Klennert, Malissa Jone and dogs Lexie and Maggie.
A memorial service for Mike will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Cresco with Chaplain Al Polito presiding. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Mike will be laid to rest at Zumbro Falls Cemetery in Zumbro Falls, Minn.
