CRESCO - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn Elaine Collins Nanos on February 4, 2024, at the age of 83 in Round Rock, Texas. Marilyn was born on March 3, 1940, in Fredericksburg, Iowa, to Claude and Florence Collins.
Marilyn was everyone's favorite! She was a joy to be around and would help anyone who needed her. She was a sensitive, artistic, talented, caring, and all together extraordinary woman who loved her family and God above all else.
Marilyn had a successful career as a teacher. She dedicated her life to educating and nurturing young minds, leaving a lasting impact on her students.
Marily was a talented woman who loved nature. She was an avid swimmer and enjoyed backpacking and camping. In her free time, Marilyn enjoyed various hobbies, including gardening, reading, traveling, spending time with family, solving crossword puzzles, and cooking. These activities brought her joy and allowed her to express her creativity.
Marilyn was a faithful worshiper and attended St. Christopher Episcopal Church and All Saints Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her loving children, Barbra and Raj Masih, and her daughter Stacy Whisman. Marilyn was also blessed with grandchildren: Justin and Melissa Bates, Krystal and Alex Dittmer, Brandon and Sarah Bates, Kabeer Masih, Cameron Masih, Kathryn and Ben Moody, and Madison Whisman. Her legacy extended to her great-grandchildren: Quinn Bates, Beckham Bates, Conor Bates, and Grady Dittmer.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter Nanos, and her siblings, Charles, Donald, and Gertrude. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Florence Collins.
Memorial services will be held on August 31, 2024, at 10:30 am at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Cresco Iowa, where Marilyn will be laid to rest with the love of her life Pete, in a celebration of their lives.
Marilyn Nanos will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.
