RIDGEWAY - Lois Albers, age 86, of Ridgeway, Iowa passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023 at the Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will take place in New Oregon Cemetery in rural Cresco. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco is handling arrangements for the family.
Lois C. Albers was born on Aug. 22, 1936 in Canoe Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, the daughter of Ole and Ida (Peterson) Usgaard. She was baptized at Hesper Lutheran Church in September 1936 and confirmed at Decorah Lutheran Church in October 1951. She attended school in Decorah and graduated from Decorah High School in 1954.
Lois worked at Hunt’s Variety Store until her marriage. On Oct. 27, 1956, she married Eugene Albers at the Decorah Lutheran Church. To this union one daughter, Teresa was born.
Lois is survived by her husband, Eugene; daughter, Teresa (Rusty) Bronner; four grandchildren, Jessica (Shawn) Henry, Nicole (Taylor) Wolter, Kelsey (Lonny) Lenehan and Michael (Jenny) Bronner; eight great-grandchildren, Lexus, Aston, William, Callie, Aiden, Emma, Ila and Eli; four nephews, Harold (Lynette) Usgaard, James “Jim” (Becky Knutson) Usgaard, Thomas Usgaard and Robert (Diane Granfors) Usgaard; a niece, Susan (Brent) Simi; several great-nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Ted Frana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Ida Usgaard; brothers, Leo in infancy, Curtis (Margeret) Usgaard and Robert (Beth and Patricia) Usgaard; nephew and nieces, David (Amy) Usgaard and Susan Usgaard; mother and father-in-law, Arthur and Charlotte Albers; and a sister-in-law, Marion Stevens.
