April 26, 2022

CHESTER/LIME SPRINGS - Kimberly Ann Kitchen, age 60, of Chester and Lime Springs, Iowa, was a thoughtful and composed wife and mother who passed away on April 26, 2022 in her home surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer for nearly two years.
Please join the family for a Celebration of Life, which will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 5 at the City Hall/Community Center in Lime Springs. Lindstrom Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Kim was born to Gordon and Nacia Johannsen on Oct. 2, 1961. Her childhood was spent in southeast Minnesota, where she discovered her love for music playing in the marching band, jazz band, mastering the piano and performing as one of the lead singers in the band “Gemini.” Even in her later years, she proudly led the chime choir at the United Methodist Church in Lime Springs.
Kim’s love for music didn’t slow her down professionally either. After holding multiple bookkeeping positions in her earlier years, she most recently served as head clerk for the Chester and Cresco, Iowa post offices.
In her husband’s words, “If all women would be like Kim, the entire world would be at peace, because she always thought before she spoke, she never talked back, and she always did what she could to keep the waters calm.”
Kim brought many joys to her marriage and who she was as a person will be greatly missed.
Kim is survived by her husband, James Kitchen; her children, Lindsey Barrett (Dan Gibbs), Laura Barrett (Nick Brock) and Harry Kitchen; her stepson, Dana (Lacey) Kitchen; her mother, Nacia Johannsen; her brother, Todd (Dawn) Johannsen; along with her 10 grandchildren.
