Kenneth T. Jones, 97

 

Lime Springs - Kenneth “Kenny” T. Jones passed peacefully from this life on Oct. 17, 2015 after a brief illness. His last days were blessed by the compassionate care of the staff of Hawkeye Care Center, Howard County Community Hospice and his daughter and son-in-law, Korrine and Ken Hearn. 

A celebration of Kenny's life will be on his birthday in July 2016 at the Lime Springs Community Center.

Kenny was born July 8, 1919 in Lime Springs, Iowa.  He was the son of Clinton Jones and Sarah (Thomas) Jones. He attended school in Lime Springs and graduated with the class of 1936.  

On March 20, 1940 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Genevieve Arneson. They were privileged to enjoy 65 years together. To this union, one daughter, Korrine, was born.

Kenny and Genevieve farmed in the Lime Springs area for 40 years. After retirement, they summered in Lime Springs and enjoyed mild winters in Weslaco, Texas, among a host of new retirement friends and close to their Texas family.  

Kenny is survived by his daughter, Korrine (Ken) Hearn of Dallas, Texas; a granddaughter, Suzanne (Larry) Flournoy of Dallas; a grandson, David Hearn of Santa Fe, N.M.;  two great-grandchildren, Trace and Genna Flournoy of Dallas;  three nieces, Ann Mraz and Irene Hildestad of Harmony, Minn. and JuLayne Arneson of Lake City, Minn.; and a host of dear friends.  

Kenny was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve; his parents; and twin brothers, Clinton and Albert Jones.

In lieu of flowers, Kenny requested any donations to be directed to the Lime Springs United Methodist Church, Pleasant Hill Cemetery or the Lime Springs Community Center.
