Gloria Tupy, 72

Dec. 26, 1949 —
June 1, 2022

ANKENY - Gloria Lynda Karen Tupy, age 72, of Ankeny, Iowa, breathed her last breath on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at about 3 p.m. at Unity Point Methodist Medical Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She fought with cancer the last months of her life.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2022 at First Lutheran Church in Cresco, Iowa with Pastor Leo Combs-Lay officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Cresco. Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. at the church on Monday prior to the service.
Gloria was born on Dec. 26, 1949 to Clarence and Gladys (Treagen) Williams. She graduated from Lanesboro (Minn.) High School. She married Dale Tupy in 1977 and combined his family with hers.
She worked as a bartender at the Spring Grove (Minn.) Liquor Store, participating in every parade and drinking holiday. She was one of the U.G.L.Y.-est bartenders there was.
The couple relocated to Ankeny in 1988, and she worked as a secretary for Younkers and Country Estates Realty, both in Ankeny, and Eagle Iron Works in Des Moines until both she and Dale retired together in 2012.
They enjoyed retired life by traveling in their car out west and down south. They visited many places, including a cruise for Dale’s birthday. They went everywhere together and were seldom apart, except when Gloria got her nails done or Dale got his hair cut.
The entire family would get together each year for Christmas at a hotel, so there was room for everyone to visit and stay, to talk and catch up. Gloria enjoyed feeding everyone and playing the game to trade for presents. She enjoyed family more than anything; she was selfless in her love and devotion to her children and family.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Dale Tupy of Ankeny; her children, Steve (Lora) of Waterloo, Iowa, Al (Yurika) Tupy of Vacaville, Calif., Mike (Tina) Tupy of Cresco, JoAnne (Chuck) Reicks of Cresco, Colleen (David) Wolfe of Mesa, Ariz. and Deann (Darin) Pair of Ankeny; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Karen Henrickson of Walker, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six of her seven siblings; and a son, Frederick Kissinger, who passed three days after birth.
