Dorothy Koudelka, 71

CRESCO - Dorothy A. Koudelka, age 71, of Cresco, Iowa, went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 26, 2022. 

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022 at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco.  Lindstrom Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dorothy was born on July 30, 1950, the daughter of John and Bessie (Frana) Koudelka. She attended country school, Holy Trinity School and graduated from New Hampton Community High School. She was then employed as a secretary at Life Investors Insurance Company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She went on to be a bookkeeper/food service employee at Saga Foods for Wright State University at Dayton, Ohio. 

She returned locally to work for Purina Checkerboard in New Hampton as a secretary. Later, she enjoyed being a nanny for her niece and nephews for a time until she went to work as a secretary/receptionist for One Stop Insurance Agency of Cresco. Dorothy retired in 2020. She became ill in the fall of 2021.

Her nieces and nephews will miss her, as she was the special aunt they always looked forward to spending time together. When reminiscing about her, they mention she was a generous, thoughtful auntie, who hosted sleepovers, shopping trips and always had goodies up her sleeve. Another states, she was a “spitfire.” They enjoyed their conversations with “Dotsy” as she was a super listener!

Dorothy enjoyed several trips with friends, visiting several states and even Hawaii. She also enjoyed fellowship with her friends from the Get Along Gang from Cresco. The bonfires and meals were a special time together!

Dorothy is survived by her two brothers, Martin Koudelka and David (Kathleen) Koudelka, and a sister, Jane (Bernie) Huegel.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Bessie Koudelka, and a sister-in-law, Emma Jean Koudelka.
