Denny Cauwels, 67

CRESCO - Denny Cauwels, age 67, of Cresco, Iowa died on June 1, 2019 in Cresco. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Cresco. The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 6 at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco. 

Dennis Ray Cauwels was born on April 27, 1952 in Luverne, Minn., the sixth of 14 children of Leo and Vivian (Lange) Cauwels. He graduated from Magnolia High School in 1970. On Dec. 11, 1971 he married Coleen Kleemeier in Luverne. 

After high school he worked in construction, then at Hanson Silo installing equipment. In 1981, the couple moved to Cresco. Denny worked for Larry Mehmert and started working for the City of Cresco in the water department in 1984. He later became the Public Works Director. He retired from the City of Cresco in 2009. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, riding his motorcycle and spending time with family and friends.

Left to honor Denny and remember his love are his wife, Coleen; two daughters, Teresa (Doug) Reisdorfer of Cannon Falls, Minn. and Beth (Thomas Norton) Cauwels of Minneapolis, Minn.; one grandson, Derick Reisdorfer; 12 brothers and sisters, Ken Cauwels of Luverne, Minn., Shirley Holling of Brentwood, Calif., Patty Cauwels of Omaha, Neb., Red (Cindy) Cauwels of Adrian, Minn., Jay Cauwels of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Rick Cauwels of Sherburn, Minn., Bob (Linda) Cauwels of Ellsworth, Minn., Colette Cauwels of Rosemount, Minn., Colleen (Chuck) Anderson of Fairmont, Becky (Bill) House of Phoenix, Ore., Tammy (Brent) Gremban of Englewood, Colo. and Donna (Greg) Heidecker, Lakota, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. 

Denny was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Butch Cauwels; and brothers-in-law, Allen Holling and Bob Mott.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Denny’s name to Howard Community Hospice.
