Charlotte Ann Guy was born on Oct. 4, 1950, in St. Paul, the daughter of Edward and Susie (Pego) Guy. She graduated from St. Paul Central High School. She then attended the University of Minnesota for two years.
On Nov. 3, 1973, she married Kenneth Whitman at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in St. Paul. Charlotte liked traveling and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. Christmas was her favorite holiday; she always went all out decorating the house inside and out. She enjoyed shopping, especially when a good deal could be found in the clearance sections, and going out to a Chinese restaurant with the girls.
Charlotte was a city girl at heart. But after retiring in 2016, she decided to leave the city life behind and move closer to her five grandchildren. Her grandchildren lovingly called her “Grandma Skittles” because there were always Skittles, a sandwich and game shows waiting their arrival. Charlotte absolutely loved being closer to her grandchildren and attending all their events.
She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity.
Charlotte is survived by her husband, Kenneth Whitman of Cresco; daughter, Lisa (Jon) Kammerer of Cresco; son, Brian Whitman of St. Paul; five grandchildren, Caleb, Joe, Andrew, Marcus and Naomi Kammerer; brother, Edward J. (Rita) Guy of East Bethel, Minn.; nephews, Eddy (Heather) Guy of Columbia Heights, Minn. and James (Kelsey) Guy of Oak Grove, Minn.; nieces, Linda (Tim) Guetschow of Mankato, Minn., Kate (Steve) Rossi of Perth, Western Australia and Bernadette (Christopher) DeLise of Budapest, Hungary; and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Janet McIntyre.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are preferred to Regional Health Services of Howard County Auxiliary.
