Catherine ‘Cathy’ Pretasky, 84

Cresco - Catherine J. “Cathy” Pretasky, age 84, of Cresco, Iowa and formerly of Riceville, Iowa pased away Tuesday morning, May 1, 2018 at Evans Memorial Home, in Cresco. 

Memorial services were held on May 8 at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, Iowa. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco assisted the family.

Cathy was born Aug. 11, 1933 in LaCrosse, Wis. to Paul and Leona (Rank) Schmitt. She grew up in LaCrosse and graduated from Aquinas High School. She married Richard Pretasky, and they later divorced. 

For many years, Cathy worked as a salesperson at various stores. Over the years she lived in Las Vegas, Nev., Huntington Beach, Calif., Riceville and Cresco. She enjoyed her dog Toby, who was her constant companion.

Cathy is survived by three children, Paula (Dennis) Axe of Las Vegas, Laetitia (Joseph) Vopava of Ridgeway and Donald (Pamela) Pretasky of Riceville; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Eric) Husson, Chanda (Jody) Kies, James (Kristie) Pretasky, Stacy (Sean) Hellwig, Joseph Vopava, Dawna Axe and Amber (Chris) Stamy; 12 great-grandchildren, Holden, Emerie, Nixon, Gavin, Brody, Hunter, Jayden, Avery, Laurelin, Edynn, Scarlett, Landon and one on the way; three siblings, John (Christa), Barbara and Margie (Tom). 

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Elizabeth.
