All-School Reunion Guest Speakers ‘Knock it out of the Park’ at Special Program

CRESCO - Sometimes a speaker can “knock it out of the park” during an event, but if you have four speakers nail a “grand slam”, you would have to say, “WOW!”
A nice crowd attended the Crestwood/Notre Dame All-School Reunion Program, held Saturday, August 22, during the Norman Borlaug Harvest Fest celebration. Master of Ceremonies was Dr. Jeff Boeke, who introduced speakers, Dr. Faye Perkins, Lieutenant Colonel Steven Douglas, Don Andera and Dan Wendl.
Dr. Boeke opened up the event welcoming everyone, and jokingly told the crowd . . . see what happens when you don’t show up at the first All-School Reunion meeting... you become the MC!
Dr. Boeke told the crowd that he had lived in Wisconsin, noting that he was a Packer fan, but has remained a Hawkeye fan as well.
“Yes, Cresco is still my special place and it truly is that special,” stated Boeke, upon speaking of moving back to the area. “Just look at this school––it’s all changed, like everything, since I was a kid going here. They said this program would take place in the Auxiliarly Gym . . . heck, I didn’t even know what an Auxiliarly Gym is!”
He went on to praise the Crestwood and Notre Dame school systems in playing such an “important role” in the lives of so many.
“Hearing all the stories having visited classmates, I mean, they go on and on and it tells me how special this place really is,” added Boeke. “This is where the teachers taught us and where our mentors were, who were so important in your life. This is where you start to make those good decisions––and some bad ones––but hopefully you learn from that discipline, which became obvious and necessary in our lives. It truly is that special place and I love it here!”
