Who were your ancestors?

CRESCO - The Howard-Winneshiek Genealogical Society will be hosting Dr. Johnathan Storlie, PhD, Microbiologist, specializing in DNA, from Spring Grove, Minn., in an informational meeting May 11 in the Cresco Bank & Trust meeting room at 7 p.m.

People need to understand how to use the tools available to us to unravel our ancestry history. One result of DNA testing is determining ethnic origin. It is interesting to note that a lot of people aren't who they think they were. In addition to locating and verifying relatives, the markers can also be  used to identify a person's susceptibility to various medical conditions. This knowledge can give a person and their doctor advanced warnings, and allow for earlier detection of illnesses and/or physical and mental conditions.
