Turkey River Clean-Up

About 40 youth and adults showed up at Cresco Bicycles to clean up the Turkey Wildlife area on Saturday, April 15. Organizer Paul Lovell noted, “We had so many volunteers, we also cleaned up at Cardinal Marsh.”
Pictured above and clockwise, Wilson Custom Tree Service uses its grapple truck to pick up garbage brought to the road from the ditches; volunteers drag bags of garbage to the road; in three hours the volunteers got rid of 30 years of garbage; and Dr. Paul Jensen and other neighbors helped with the clean-up.
In addition to those listed, Ruppert Ace Hardware donated the garbage bags; Hawkeye Sanitation, dumpsters; Fareway, water; Times Plain Dealer, subscription discounts; Howard County Secondary Roads provided safety vests and barricades; and Bruening Recycling, appliances.
At the end of the day, Cresco Bicycles provided pizza and beverages, with a donation of cash from Jon Hanni, formerly of Cresco.
