TPD Giving Tree helps seniors

“I can’t believe how Howard County comes together every year to donate items to the Senior Giving Tree we sponser here at the Times Plain Dealer,” said Publisher Dan Evans. “It just shows how much Christmas spirit can be found in our local communities.”

For the past eight years, the Times has collected items to be distributed at the local nursing homes. Each year, more and more items are donated by the public, so besides the Cresco care centers — Accura HealthCare, Country Winds Manor and Evans Memorial Home, items were taken to Colonial Manor in Elma.

“All the care centers were very appreciative of the gifts given to seniors, some of whom don’t have family or friends to give them something for Christmas. It’s a great program,” said Editor Marcie Klomp. “We look forward to delivering even more items next year!”
