Tonic Sol-Fa coming to Cresco on Aug. 30

CRESCO - Tonic Sol-Fa is a ground-breaking a cappella ensemble from Minnesota, in constant development since its formation two decades ago. TSF stands as one of the leading forces in the world of vocal music with Emmy Award winning arrangements and multi-million selling compositions.
The group will be at Cresco Theatre & Opera House on Friday, Aug. 30 starting at 7 p.m.
Tonic Sol-Fa began at St. John’s University in Central Minnesota and includes Shaun Johnson, Greg Bannwarth, Jared Dove and Theo Brown.
“We’ve been to the Opera House a few times, including last year (on Aug. 15). We like to go back where we’ve already played . . . especially when we had great support. We want to reward our fans,” bass player Dove shared during an interview with the Times Plain Dealer.
He added, “We’re excited to be back. We’ve been cranking out some new songs, and we always put those into the mix, along with some favorite oldies.” Tonic Sol-Fa mixes up the new and old songs. “Some of them, we swap out, some we grow weary of, plus we have new stuff to play.”
Fans should know that each concert is different as they play different material at each one. They sing just about every genre, from country, rock, gospel, pop and rap. “It’s just like the weather . . . if you don’t like the song, a new one you do like will come along,” joked Dove.
Tonic Sol-Fa can be found on its website — www.tonicsolfa.com; Facebook — Tonic Sol-fa or Instagram, Twitter or Youtube.
Tickets can be purchased at Cresco-Area Chamber, CUSB Bank, Cresco Bank & Trust, Cresco Theatre & Opera House or at the door for an extra fee.
