—Community to give input on April 13
CRESCO - Current Howard-Winneshiek CSD Superintendent Ted Ihns’ resigation was officially accepted at the March 21 board meeting.
The school board is making good progress on getting a new superintendent hired.
Board President Alison Holten said, “The school board hired McPherson & Jacobson to assist in the superintendent search. The board developed a list of key characteristics we want to have in our next superintendent. McPherson & Jacobson then started the recruiting and application process.”
The application period closed on Wednesday, April 13 at midnight.
Also on April 13, McPherson & Jacobson was in the district to meet with school and community groups to get their input on what they are looking for in the next superintendent.
After the input sessions McPherson & Jacobson met with the board to go over the information gathered from these sessions.
“McPherson & Jacobson will present a complete list of applicants, who have completed the application process, to the board to review. They do not eliminate any applications, but they will submit a short list of applicants who most closely meet the district's criteria. The board will choose who to interview from the list of applicants,” explained Holten.
The board will meet in closed session on April 27 to review candidates and select the finalist.
On May 9, the finalists will be interviewed and a new superintendent will be selected.
