Schley Cheese Fest to be held on July 18th

 SCHLEY - The annual Schley Cheese Fest is set to take place on July 18th at Reno’s outside of Cresco, Iowa. This non-profit organization is dedicated to honoring the community of Schley and contributing to the development of youth, people in need, and other worthy organizations locally.

   Established in 2023, the fest was born out of the idea of a reunion for former members of the Schley Cheese Factory and slo-pitch softball team. The event features a variety of activities, including a 'Show and Shine' car show, free will donation meal, 50/50 raffle, music, bingo, and entertainment for the kids.

   Over the years, Schley Cheese Fest has been able to give back to 63 individuals in need and over 18 organizations. The event has grown in popularity and continues to attract community members and visitors alike.

   This year’s fest promises to be a day of fun, family, food, and music. The Vintage Show and Shine will run from 1-4pm, showcasing classic cars, motorcycles, tractors, and more. Live bands, including Braelyn McCarville, 3rd Offense, and Union Fair, will provide entertainment throughout the day, all day from 12:30-9:30pm.

   Attendees can also enjoy bingo with American Legion Post 135, bouncy houses, carnival games for kids, and a free will donation meal of Smoked Chops, potatoes, beans, and fresh cheese curds. A 50/50 raffle will be held, and Reno’s will have concessions and refreshments available.

   There is no admission charge for the event, and a shuttle will be available from parking to the venue. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable items to help support local food banks with a goal of ‘filling the bulk tank'.

   In addition to all of the exciting activities and entertainment planned for the day, the Schley Cheese Fest is also a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and support one another. By attending the event, community members can not only enjoy a fun-filled day with their friends and family but also help the community that they live in thrive.

   The Fest serves as a reminder of the rich history and heritage of the Schley community. The event celebrates the traditions and nostalgia of the past while also looking towards a bright future by giving back to individuals in need and supporting worthy organizations. Through their ongoing efforts, the event organizers intent to continue to make a positive impact on the community.
