Recognizing kindness

CRESCO - There is a basket full of thankfulness and giving making its rounds in Cresco. It is The Giving Basket. The concept is to give the basket filled with goodies to someone who has done a good deed or shown extra kindness.
The most recent recipients include Nancy Henry, who noticed Nate Troy of the Times Plain Dealer shoveling in front of O’Henry’s Stitches & Prints, so she passed the basket to him.
Troy in turn knew Warren Steffen had driven the Grand Marshals of Santa’s Holiday Parade, Bob and Grace Story,  through the route.
It all started with Bootie Kapler. “I have a cookie plate. it says . . .”

The Giving Plate
This plate shall have no owner,
For its journey never ends.
It travels in a circle of our family and friends.
It carries love from home to home for everyone to share.
The food that’s placed upon it was made with love
and care.
So please enjoy what’s
 on the plate.
Then fill it up again.
Then pass along the love it holds to your family and friends.

“I’ve given it away a bunch of times and have always gotten it back, coming full circle.” Kapler smiled, “Sometimes it’s from the person I gave it to and sometimes it is from someone else!
“It gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling, so I thought I would do that with a basket. Some times you just don’t get enough thank yous. So this basket is for others to say ‘Thank you for doing something nice.’”
It is hard to say how far or how long the basket will make its travels. It is also hard to say how many new baskets will join it!
