Nesburg wins ‘My World’ contest

—Picture of campfire takes Best of Show in Photography Contest at MHCF
CRESCO - The 2019 Times Plain Dealer “My World” Photo Contest drew over 70 entries in five categories, People; Scenic, Nature and Places; Life in Iowa; Youth; and Black and White. 
Amanda Nesburg of Cresco won Best of Show for her picture of a campfire titled “Iowa Summer Nights.” One judge commented, “It was a very difficult shot. It was in focus and great quality. I also liked the title!” She will receive $50 in Cresco Chamber Dollars.
All first-place winners received $25 in Cresco Chamber Dollars and two Cresco Theatre movie passes.

First — Stacy Dohlman of Lime Springs, “No Better Drink” (Judges commented, “Everybody’s done it . . . taken a drink from the spigot. It’s the only way farm kids can drink!”)
Second — Amelia Nesburg of Cresco, “A Mother’s Reason”
Third — Danielle Chihak of Cresco, “The Power of Prayer”
 
Scenic, Nature & Places
First — Ben Haar of Elma, “Sand Stone Bridge” (This was a very high-quality photo, according to judges)
Second — Ben Haar, “Northern Lights”
Third — Vickie Grube of Cresco, “From the Deck”
 
Life in Iowa
First — Chris Shimek of Cresco, “A Jersey’s View” (Judges thought this was a unique perspective of a calf. Getting up high or down low always make for interesting photos.)
Second — Cortney Kielb of Cresco, “United We Stand”
Third — Dolly Hovey of Lime Springs, “Smooch Smooch”
 
Youth - 18 & Under
First — Vienna Nibbelink of Cresco, “The Lights of Elm Street” (Judges said, “This is a unique view of Elm Street for someone so young. Keep up the good work!”)
Second — Olivia Johnson of Elma, “Forever Friends”
Third — Andrew Hovey of Lime Springs, “King Tubby”
 
Black & White
First — Shari Hrdina of Des Moines, “Sunset Tulips” (Judges said, “This is a great use of black and white. You can use your imagination and pick any color for the tulips.”)
Second — Rebecca Caffrey of Cresco, “Here Fishy, Fishy”
Third — KimSue Grube of Cresco, “Miniature Winter Wonderland”
Winners should stop by the Times Plain Dealer’s office at 214 N. Elm St. in Cresco to pick up their prize. The photos left at Featherlite Center are also at the TPD office.
