L.S. history book for sale

Lime Springs - Lime Springs Then & Now Dau (2) was 150 years in the making, but it is complete and on sale now!

Price for the spiral-bound book is $26.75, including tax. Hard cover books are $42.80 with pre-orders required at 563-547-3601. Credit cards are accepted. Friday, Aug. 24 is the cutoff for hard cover books.

Marcie Klomp, who started researching for the book over the past 12 years, called it quits the middle of July. “I really had fun researching and compiling the information to put in the book, but toward the end, I was starting to not like history so much! Now that I’ve been done for a month, I’m liking it again,” she laughed.

Klomp named the book Then & Now Dau (which is “two” in Welsh). It is an extension of the centennial history book Then & Now written by Anna May Davis, Jane Buresh and Sylvia Jones. “That was a great book! Those ladies did a wonderful job on it, and I am hoping people enjoy this one as much.”

Some of the information is the same as the first book, but Klomp found new and different stories to tell.

“Each town has so much history, and Lime Springs is no different. It was lucky to have a newspaper for as long as it did. Carl Cassidy, publisher of the Lime Springs Herald for over 60 years, recorded lots of history, which enabled me to find dates and share news with this generation.”

Lime Springs Then & Now Dau (2) and the original Lime Springs Then & Now from 1968 are available for sale at Times Plain Dealer. The newest book is also for sale at CUSB Bank and Curt’s Home Town General Store, both in Lime Springs.
