LIME SPRINGS - The City Council stayed with having meetings on the first Tuesday of the month, but changed the time they start from 7 p.m. to 6:30. [Before that, in 2004, meetings started at 7:30 p.m.]
• In other business, Chief Scott Osmundson reported there were no fire department calls in December. He invited all to attend the dance at the LS Tap on Jan. 14.
Council approved the vote of the fire fighters for Osmundson to stay chief; Assistant Chief is Matthew Leverson; Training Officers are Jeff Hovde and James Wendel; Safety Officer is Michael Leverson; and Secretary/Treasurer is Dan Gibbs.
The chief also said the department is looking to change officer titles and job descriptions.
• Jarry Hughes told Council the Community Center made $5,000 on its raffle. A leak in the kitchen was fixed. A new concrete job will be started in the spring.
He also offered to look into costs for better lighting in front of the Center/Fire Station.
• There were no reports for the Library or Park & Rec departments.
• Public Works Director Tyler Smith said the end of December was busy with snow removal and getting the truck box fixed.
He said three of the four aerators were temporarily not working.
He has also been studying for the sewer test and plans to take the test in a few weeks.
• Council voted to budget $6,000 to the Community Center; $12,000 to the Fire Department; $23,000 to the Library; $7,000 to the Parks (This is more than previous years due to the raise in the cost of fuel.); and $21,000 to the Pool. This leaves about 52.5% going into the General Fund.
• Council approved changing the animal control and licensing and utility billing ordinances.
• The Maximum Budget Levy Public Hearing was set for the next meeting on Feb. 7.
