Her reason for wanting to become Fair Queen is because she is “extremeley proud of (her) community, county, and fair.” Isaacson also won the title of “Miss Congeniality”, which is voted by the queen candidates.
Kennedy Linkenmeyer, dau-ghter of Rebecca and Dallas Linkenmeyer, is known for her title of Miss Riceville last year, and for being the founder of the Riceville Community Service Club. She has received many leadership awards and served as a panelist for the Secretary of Agriculture.
This year ten candidates competed including, Elise Church, Emma Godman, Kaiya Holten, Korey Hrdlicka, Addalyn Isaacson, Kennedy Linkenmeyer, Kenzie Moellers, Meredith Moore, Camdyn Orth, and Mackenzie Thiele. Tom Barnes expressed his appreciation for having so many participants this year and how hard the decision was. The large onlooking crowd cheered on every girl as they were introduced on stage.
Each candidate had a long resume of accomplishments and participation in school. Several participated in events in the fair, FFA, or 4-H throughout their lives.
All were asked what their favorite part of the fair was, and answers consisted of “showing pigs”, “working with youth”, showing cows” and “the people and kids.”
Former 2023 Fair Queen Ava Ferrie and Former 2023 Fair Princess Olivia Johnson expressed their thanks to the fair board and families for all the support in the last year. Ferrie stated “You’ve given us a year we will never forget”, describing the experiences of traveling to different fairs and completing fair duties. The pair crowned the new Queen and Princess.
Overall, the event had a significant turnout, as parents and grandparents sat in the audience. The Fair Queen and Princess will go on to award winners of the races, be present at all livestock events, future parades, and help out with as many events as possible during the fair.
