HSNEI Tails & Treasures Fund-raiser, Nov. 10

Decorah - The Humane Society of Northeast Iowa is on a mission, a mission to provide a loving and caring environment at the Love & Adoption Center for dogs and cats until they find a home of their own.
On Friday, Nov. 10, the Fourth Annual Tails & Treasures Fund-raiser will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Oneota Country Club in Decorah.
Why attend the fund-raiser other than the fact that there will be live music, delicious foods and both a live and silent auction? If fun isn’t your cup of tea maybe go simply because HSNEI serves five counties, including Howard. HSNEI is a non-profit, no-kill shelter, and its successful operation relies heavily on the generous communities it serves.
To make the event special, nine local artists volunteered their talents to paint cat and dog statues that will be featured in the live auction. Those artists include Val Miller, Bonnie Koloc, Ruth Green, Tom Sheppard, Lea Lovelace, Keri Bodensteiner, Carlene Selbee, Laurie Thompson and Barbara Fay. The statues can be viewed on the HSNEI website as well as the former JC Penny’s window on Water Street in Decorah.
There will be over 40 live and silent auction items. Some items at the event include a “decked out” table, a two- night stay at a cabin at Harvest Fest Campground and Resort, tickets to Chanhassen Dinner Theatre with overnight accommodations, dinner at Estelle’s in Harmony and two tickets to the Commonweal Theatre, dinner for two at local restaurants, a family fun night package, dog packages, cat packages, pet portraits and the list goes on. Interested yet? Oh, and an added bonus—door prizes.
Kim Powell, HSNEI board member, said, “Tails & Treasures is HSNEI’s primary fund-raiser of the year and depends on the generosity of those in our community who love homeless animals to make it a success. There are so many great auction items to bid on. One hundred percent of ticket sales and auction funds all go to help the animals.”
