H.C. Sheriff’s Office receives tool donations

CRESCO - The Howard County Sheriff’s Office recently received a generous donation of tools from Stanley® Engineered Fastening of Decorah.
“Last year, Winneshiek County received some donated tools, so I reached out to Dean Mashek,” explained Sheriff Tim Beckman. “He’s the plant manager, and I’ve known him my whole life.
“I made a very generous wish list, and they gave me everything! I was pleasantly surprised.”
The department received:
• Two staple guns to help hang targets at the range.
• Two 100-ft. tape measures. “They will be nice to use at an accident or crime scene,” he added.
• Three 18-inch 60-volt chainsaws to be used on downed trees and branches.
• Ten Fu Bar III breaching tools to open car and house doors during an emergency.
• Ten camper axes; and
• Three tripod flood lights that are on backorder.
There are enough tools for each car to have an ax and Fu Bar. The other equipment will be placed where needed.
