Haar wins My World Photo Contest

CRESCO - Ben Haar of Elma won the Best of Show overall prize at the Times Plain Dealer’s photo contest at the Howard County Fair with his photo titled, “Afternoon of Itasca.” Haar will receive $75 in Cresco Chamber Bucks for taking first. 

The People’s Choice Photo chosen by the Mighty Howard County Fair Board went to Marge Ludwig for her photo titled, “Mirror Lake.” Ludwig will receive $75 of Cresco Chamber Bucks.

First place in each category will receive $25 Cresco Chamber Dollars and two Cresco Theatre tickets. The contest featured 66 total entries.

Haar’s photo also grabbed first place in the Special Places category. Second place in Special Places went to Staci Nicoll with her photo, “Don’t Blink.” Third place went to Marge Ludwig for her photo, “Mirror Lake.” Beth King earned Honorable Mention for her photo, “Looking Up.”

In the People category, the results included: 1. Rebecca Caffrey, “Waiting on a Tractor”; 2. Amber Haskovec, “Best Friends”; 3. Jessica Thorson Carrington, “Just a strollin’ along”; Honorable Mention - Randy Mashek, “First Win.”

In the Life in Iowa category, place winners and honorable mention included: 1. Kraig Johnson, “Let Me Do It”; 2. Kaira (Ledbeter) Downing, “Who Needs a Sandbox When You Have Corn?”; 3. Beki Groenwald, “The Tank”; Honorable Mention - Delores Vsetecka, “That Darn Cat!”

In the Youth division, winners included: 1. Nadine Lenehan, “Mountain Goat by the Road”; 2. Kyler Curtis, “Iowa’s Outdoor Waterpark”; 3. Macie Mashek, “Wagon Wheel”; Honorable Mention - Kyle Grube, “Clouds.”
