H-W CSD announces finalists for superintendent interviews

CRESCO - The Howard-Winneshiek Community School District’s Board of Education is pleased to announce that they have selected three candidates to interview for their superintendent vacancy. The candidates selected for interviews are: 

• Kris Einck, Decorah, Iowa – Mr. Einck is currently the superintendent and high school principal of the South Winneshiek Community School District. He has served in that capacity since 2015. He has also served as a principal, technology director, athletic director and vocational agriculture teacher.

• Dr. Michael Volk, Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Dr. Volk is the principal and Instructional Leader of St. Patrick School, Archdiocese of Dubuque Catholic Schools in Anamosa, Iowa.  He has also been a Director of the Talented and Gifted and a high school English teacher.

• Michael Wright, Earlham, Iowa – Mr. Wright was the superintendent at Earlham for fourteen years. He also served as teacher, principal, and superintendent in Iowa schools for many years.

Interviews are scheduled to be conducted on May 9, 2022. Numerous stakeholders will have the opportunity to meet the final candidates and submit input to the board about each of them. The board intends to make their selection by May 12, 2022.

Howard-Winneshiek Community School District retained the services of McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C. to assist in conducting their search. The consultants reviewed, screened, and conducted extensive background checks on all 15 applicants. On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, the consultants presented the applicants to the Board of Education and provided them detailed background information on each applicant. The board selected three candidates as finalists.
