Gubernatorial candidate Norris to visit Cresco

CRESCO - John Norris, who announced his run on the Democratic ticket for Iowa Governor in July, will be in Cresco, at Sue-Z-Q’s on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 8:30 a.m. He will be speaking to the public for approximately an hour.
John Norris is a fifth generation Iowan, raised on the Montgomery County family farm his great-great-grandfather settled in 1881. Educated at Red Oak Community Schools, Simpson College and The University of Iowa College of Law, John benefited from having a strong family, a close-knit rural community and a world-class Iowa education.
According to his bio, Norris has long helped and guided the Iowa Democratic Party, as both an activist and also as the elected Chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party, where he directed it out of financial difficulty to its first Democratic gubernatorial victory in 32 years. One of newly elected Governor Vilsack’s first moves was to enlist John to be his chief of staff.
He later chaired the Iowa Utilities Board, where he developed a passion for and expertise in energy, particularly renewable energy. His work in Iowa and nationally on energy issues led President Obama to appoint Norris to serve as a commissioner on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, where he furthered the goals of the Obama Administration to develop a cleaner, more efficient energy system for America.
