Elma Area Scholarship Fund now accepting applications

ELMA - Peoples Savings Bank: Elma Area Scholarship Fund is currently accepting applications for area high school students seeking to further their education. The deadline to apply is March 8. The online application can be found at www.cfneia.org/scholarships.
This is a one-year scholarship made annually to students graduating from Crestwood High School, Charles City High School, New Hampton High School, Osage High School or Riceville High School and who consider Elma or Alta Vista, Iowa to be their hometown. Students must be planning on attending an accredited university, junior college, or trade school within the state of Iowa. Involvement in extra-curricular activities, community service work, and most importantly the student’s financial need will be considered.
The People Savings Bank: Elma Area Scholarship Fund is held with The Elma Area Community Foundation (EACF), a local community foundation seeking to enrich the Elma Area. The EACF is an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa (CFNEIA), which holds scholarship funds established by generous individuals, families, businesses and organizations to ensure that students have the opportunity to pursue their educational dreams.
In 2016, CFNEIA awarded more than 275 scholarships totaling over $400,000, providing critical financial assitance to students. With awards ranging from $250 to $60,000, CFNEIA scholarships help young people, and adults returning to college, overcome the obstacles that stand between them and education that can lead to a brighter future.
