CUSB donates quilt to RHSHC auction

CRESCO - CUSB Bank employees have been busy this year creating a quilt to be donated to the Regional Health Services of Howard County's (RHSHC) Annual Quilt Auction.
Lori Bronner, Vice President and HR Director, has been the quilt project coordinator at the bank for the past six years. She said, “There is a team of us at the bank that enjoy quilting. We all get together in the Spring and look for a pattern that would work for all of us. Then we go to the local quilt shop and pick out materials that would work well with the pattern.”
Next, the duties are split up. Each quilt team member takes materials home and gets to work creating quilting blocks. Bronner said, “Once the blocks are created we get back together and assemble the quilt. It is exciting to see it come together and we have fun working together. Once the quilt top is done, we send it to Stephanie Thomson to do the quilting. Then we complete the binding and the quilt is ready to enjoy.”
This year CUSB Bank is donating a queen-sized quilt, measuring 86 x 103 inches, in a Minnesota Pin Wheels pattern. CUSB Employees and Family Nichole Havlik, Beth Huber, Stephanie Thomson, Deb Novak, and Lori Bronner have spent 50 hours creating the quilt. The colors of the quilt are beige, gold, teal, and red.
Bronner went on to share, “It’s fun to get to work together as a team and is exciting to see it all come together. More importantly, it is great to donate a quilt to support our local hospital.”
CUSB’s quilt, along with many others, will be auctioned off on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 12 noon at the RHSHC Quilt Auction, as part of Norman Borlaug Harvest Fest in Cresco.
