Cresco Public Library offers free online research resources

 

CRESCO - Cresco Public Library offers its patrons free research resources online, including Gale Pages Iowa, Gale Chilton Library, Credo, and Transparent Language Online.
Library staff members recently completed a training session on how to navigate the sites, which provide library users with access to scholarly articles, school homework and reference needs, auto repair, and databases on a wide range of topics.
Gale Pages Iowa includes’ Gale resource databases that are available for searching on many topics from gardening to business, and everything in between. 
Access authoritative magazine and journal articles, find your next great read, and so much more.’
Gale Chilton Library ‘provides authoritative automotive repair information that covers popular vehicles from the last 30 years.’
Credo ‘is an easy to use tool for research, homework, and other reference needs, offering over three million articles in over one thousand books from over one hundred publishers, gain access to creditable sources from Britannica Encyclopedia, Harvard Medical School Videos and more.’
To access the Gale sites or Credo, library patrons must click on the icon on the library’s webpage at www.cresco.lib.ia.us and enter their library card number. If patrons have lost their library card, they may call the library at: 563-547-2540 to ask for their library card number.
Cresco Public Library also offers Transparent Language Online. This site features lessons in a wide range of foreign languages in the form of listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities. To log into Transparent Language, click on the icon on either the Cresco Public Library website or its card catalog page and sign up for an account.
