CRESCO - This week, the public is encouraged to place final bids on items for the Cresco Public Library annual Silent Auction. The fund-raiser ends Saturday, Oct. 28 at 12 p.m.
The auction features a wide variety of hand-crafted and thoughtfully-purchased items from library patrons, friends and area businesses. Among the donations are hand-knitted children’s sweaters, jewelry, wood carvings, a baby gift basket, autumn-theme quilted table runners, Christmas decorations, framed artwork, children’s books, pillowcases featuring popular children's book characters, Cresco and regional history books, Norwegian rosemaling, gift certificates to area businesses, and more.
To place bids, the public is welcome to visit Cresco Public Library during regular open hours and ask for a bidding number at the front desk. All of the silent auction items are displayed on the library’s main floor.
After the auction ends Saturday, members of the Friends of the Cresco Public Library group will call the winning bidders, who may pick up their items the following week during regular library hours (9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Wednesday; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday-Friday, and 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday).
Proceeds from the Cresco Public Library Silent Auction go to the Children’s Summer Reading Program.
The silent auction is one of two fund-raising events organized each year by the Friends of the Cresco Public Library, and takes place annually in October. The other fund-raising project, the used book sale, is held at the end of April each year, and helps fund BRIDGES, Cresco Public Library’s online eLibrary.
