CRESCO - It pays to shop local in more ways than one!

The grand prize and second place winners in the Times Plain Dealer’s Christmas Gift Give-away were drawn and the winners have already picked up their prizes.

Donna Hyberger of Cresco was the lucky grand prize winner. She received gift certificates to participating businesses totaling over $1,000!

Her goal in life is to bring joy to the world, and this year it paid off with a big win in the give-away! “It’s a wonderful life,” Hyberger said. “I was shocked when someone called and said I had won. I’m going to share with everybody! I always shop in Cresco. I shop small.”

One of the places she shopped this year was at the Times Plain Dealer, giving the gift of a subscription to family members.

Mike Adams of Lime Springs took home the second place prize of gift certificates from the businesses totaling over $500!

Adams and his family also shop local as much as they can, and it paid for him as well. 

“This was a super end to the year. Unexpected surprises are always nice.” He plans to spread the wealth as he will share the gift certificates with his family, wife Melissa, and children, Kaleb and Kelcie.

“Thank you to all the businesses that participated. It’s very cool and a nice thing to do for the community. Keep shopping local!”

During the 10 weeks before Christmas, weekly winners were given gift certificates from participating businesses: O’Henry’s Stitches and Prints, Holstrom Gifts & Jewelry, Fisk Farm & Home, Quilter’s Garden, Sue-Z-Q’s, Leuthold’s, The County Store, Echovision/USCellular, Billmyer Furniture & Flooring, Ox & Wren Spirits & Gifts, Plantpeddler, Ruppert Ace Hardware, Polashek’s Locker, A&W/Long John Silver’s, Spahn & Rose, Outdoors & More and Times Plain Dealer.
