Book-signing at Elma

Elma - Linda Betsinger McCann will be speaking at the Elma Library on Friday, April 21 at 2 pm about her newest book, The Civilian Conservation Corps in Northeast Iowa. There is no admission charge and everyone is welcome. McCann will have copies of all her books available for purchase.
The CCC was a federal program during the 1930s that helped young men find work, and also renewed our natural resources. The men left their homes and lived in camps and worked in our state parks and also did soil erosion work. There were camps in Cresco and Decorah for soil erosion. The Decorah Trout Stream  had dams and buildings constructed by the CCC men. McCann was able to speak with seven men who were enrolled in the CCC and shares their stories.
This is McCann's tenth book published by The Iowan Books. McCann is finishing up the CCC book for southeast Iowa, and is beginning on the central part of the state. She expects to have five books in the series about the CCC in Iowa.
McCann would still like to speak with men, or their families, who worked in the CCC. She can be contacted at losttownsofiowa@gmail.com .
