Am. Legion Auxiliary members recognized

CRESCO - A combined Cresco American Legion Auxiliary coffee and meeting were held on June 30 at 1:30 p.m. at the Legion Hall with 15 members and one guest attending. 

President Marcie Huhe called the meeting to order. Chaplain Therma Fitzgerald read an opening prayer. The Pledge of the Allegiance and the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary were recited. 

President Huhe said, “We would like to recognize and thank each and every member and let you know we value your membership. Your membership is crucial to keeping our organizations going — as we are here to serve veterans, their families and their communities.”

Members were recognized with certificates for their milestone continuous years of membership.

Those receiving certificates were Barb Prochaska — 40 years and Mary Lou Murray and Camella Schmitt — 25 years. Those unable to attend who received certificates include Madonna Davis — 80 years, Donna Brosdahl — 50 years, Joye Meyer — 40 years and Pam Cobbs — 25 years.   

The remainder of the meeting was held following the usual order of business. The minutes of the May meeting were summarized by Huhe and Treasurer Barb Zak gave the treasurer’s report. 

Wilma Mohs reported on Poppy Day, which was held on May 20. President Huhe thanked everyone for helping make Poppy Day successful. 

Usual discussions followed and everyone was reminded that the 2022-2023 Auxiliary year starts on July 1.

The Cresco American Legion and Auxiliary will be hosting the 4th District Fall Conference at the Cresco Legion Hall on Oct. 15. The next meeting is scheduled for July 21, at 6 p.m. at the Legion Hall. 

A closing prayer was read, and the meeting was adjourned, followed by a small reception in honor of members.
