CRESCO - Michael "Mike" E. Sajdak, 69, of Cresco, IA passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at his home in Cresco.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at Notre Dame Parish in Cresco. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 404 North Elm Street, Cresco, Iowa, 52136 with a scripture service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the time-of-service Monday at the church.
Michael Elmer Sajdak was born on June 12, 1954, son of Sylvester and Lorraine (Milarski) Sajdak in Chicago, Ill. Mike graduated with the class of 1972, from Schaumburg High School. In 1979, through mutual friends, Mike met Yvonne Augustine, a Cresco native.
On August 20, 1983, the couple married at a church in Schaumburg. Mike and Yvonne moved to Cresco in 1991. Even though Mike grew up in the Chicago area, he was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, not a Chicago Bears fan. Mike tended to bet against the Bears, which cost him dearly in 1985. He had a passion for playing golf and keeping a meticulous lawn. Mike had an "eye for detail" making sure his vehicles, house, and lawn were always well kept. He was a quiet person who always listened to the conversations around him, waiting for the opportunity to instill his dry sense of humor. Mike loved his family immensely. He was proud of his two sons and the daughters-in-law they picked, and he loved being a grandpa to his five grandchildren.
Surviving Mike is his wife of 40 years, Yvonne Sajdak of Cresco; two sons, Kristopher (Erica) Sajdak of Cresco and Brandon (Kirsten) Sajdak of Cresco; five grandchildren Addyson, Ellie, Will and Kooper and Lincoln; his sister, Sharon Buckles of Henderson, NV; two nieces, Heather Foster and Bree Keim; his eight in-laws Barbara Augustine of Stanton, Cal., Kathy (Patrick) Kellenberger of Middle Amana, Dennis (Mary) Augustine of Somers, Wis., Diane Pittman of Fishers, Ind, Marian (Chris) Gruhler of Kansas City, Mo., Patty (Oscar) Jackson of Cresco, Karla (Dan) Duncan of Huntersville, NC, and Bill (Linda) Augustine of Kenosha, Wis.; and many Augustine nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mike in death was his parents Sylvester and Lorraine, brother-in-law Robert Buckles, father and mother-in-law Greg and Dolores Augustine, sister-in-law Rosalie Augustine, and brothers-in-law Gary Mancini and Bob Pittman.
