DECORAH - Linda Lee Ragland, 72, died on Tuesday July 8, 2025 in Decorah, Iowa.
Linda was born on October 27, 1952 in Cresco, Iowa to LeRoy Frank and Marie Martha (Craft) Baethke. She married Michael John Ragland on October 23, 1982 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they had 3 children and lived many happy years on their farm near Ridgeway, Iowa.
Linda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, taking rides on the Cassville Ferry, crocheting potholders, and playing board games with her family. Linda loved going on adventures with her husband Mike, they went to many exciting places together. Linda had many past times that included gardening, league bowling, cooking her famous pies, and tending to her chickens.
Linda is survived by her three children: Michelle (Chris) Daniels of Dubuque, Iowa, Martha Ragland (John Helgeson) of Cresco and Matt (Deepa) Ragland of Burlington, North Carolina; three sisters: Marsha (Keith) Emerson of Osage, Amy (Ronald) Nisbit of Cresco, and Karen (Dale) Gesell of Ridgeway; four grandchildren: Sam Daniels, Mackenzie Daniels, Camilla Daniels and River Ragland along with many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Michael John Ragland on October 5, 2024; her parents Marie Martha and LeRoy Frank Baethke; sister Elaine Marie Baethke; sister Lois Kay Fuller and her mother and father in-law Camilla (Chapman) and Melvin Ragland.
Memorial services wa held at 10:00am on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Schmelzer Funeral Home in Cresco. Visitation was held from 4:00-6:00pm on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Schmelzer Funeral Home in Cresco and again one hour prior to services on Wednesday morning. Burial will take place at the Orleans Cemetery in rural Ridgeway. Schmelzer Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
