RICEVILLE - Jamie Lee Henry, 48, of Riceville, Iowa, passed away on March 29, 2025, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He remained under medical surveillance for 2 days following the accident, to prepare him for organ donation.
Born on March 30, 1977, in Decorah, Jamie was the son of Terry "Buck" Henry and Jane (Houdek) Henry. He grew up in Cresco, attending Crestwood Elementary and Crestwood High School.
Jamie's childhood was filled with adventure and mischief, often leading to unforgettable stories. He loved spending time at his Grandpa Ralph's in Decorah, raising a ruckus and making memories. One of his most legendary stories occurred when he was 13, he thought it would be funny to moon a passing car, only to discover his mother was the driver.
In 1995, Jamie welcomed his son, Tanner Ray Henry. On September 20, 2003, he married Amy (Ullom) Henry, and together they had two children, Skylar Rose in 2004 and Talon Robert in 2008. Though Jamie and Amy later divorced, he still always cherished his family.
Jamie had an unmatched energy, especially when it came to his children. He built forts in the living room, initiated Nerf wars, and never hesitated to camp out on the trampoline for a night during the summer. He spent countless hours wrestling and playing UFC with his kids, and Sundays were reserved for football with Tanner and Talon, complete with frantic runs to the kitchen for popcorn and nachos during commercial breaks. He especially had a soft spot for Skylar, which meant shopping trips, face masks, painted nails, and getting his makeup done. All were done with a grin on his face because if his kids were happy, he was happy.
Beyond his devotion to his family, Jamie found joy in hunting, watching sports, and riding his motorcycle. His favorite memories include turkey hunting with his older brother, Jake, his trip to Alabama with his younger brother, Josh, and discussing cars with his dad. Jamie was employed as a Supervisor with McNielus Truck and Manufacturing in Riceville.
Jamie is survived by his parents, Terry "Buck" and Jane Henry; his brothers, Jason "Jake" Henry (Shaonda) and Josh (Sara) Henry; his beloved children, Tanner, Skylar, and Talon Henry; grandson Hudson Henry, and his nephews, Jace and Kyler, and niece, Rylee.
Jamie was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Ralph and Lois Houdek, paternal grandparents Richard and Rose Henry, aunt Donna Harnack, uncles Clifford Harnack, Allen Henry, and Sonny Henry, and niece Patricia Harnack.
His spirit, humor, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A Visitation for Jamie will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Cresco. A prayer service led by Pastor Tim Sir will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
