CRESCO - Frances T. Hovorka, age 96, died on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Accura Healthcare of Cresco.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Frances will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Notre Dame Parish in Cresco with Fr. Jacob Rouse presiding. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church, beginning at 9:00 a.m. with rosary recited at 9:45 a.m.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco at a later date.  Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Cresco is handling the arrangements.

Frances Theresa Lukes was born on December 3, 1926, daughter of Caroline Lukes in Iowa City, Iowa.  Frances attended school in Protivin at St. Rudolphinum High School until the ninth grade.  On September 16, 1946, she was united in marriage to Clarence Hovorka.  The couple lived on the Hovorka family farm until retiring and moving to Cresco.  Throughout the years, Frances worked as a waitress, bartender at the Hi-way Inn, Heco in Harmony, Minn., and 19+ years as a housekeeper for Cresco Care Center.  In her free time, Frances enjoyed collecting angels, playing BINGO and cards, listening to Polka music, and dancing.  She loved spending time with her children and extended family members.  Frances had a strong faith in God and was ready to go home to praise and glorify Him face to face.    

Frances is survived by her children Kathleen Trelstad of St. Paul, Minn., and son Kevin Hovorka of Rochester, Minn., half-sister Marlene Hron of Cresco, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence, son-in-law Arnold Trelstad, and half-sisters Evelyn Moriarty, Madonna Anderson, and Arlene Hron, and half-brother Wilmar Pecinovsky.
